After Theodore Roosevelt's wife and mother died, he moved to the frontier and became a rancher in 1883. He was quite successful but eventually went back to his old life in New York and became a war hero, governor, vice president, and eventually president, all in the next 18 years. We went to visit his first frontier home in North Dakota.
